We regret to inform you that the OIFE Board has made the difficult decision to postpone the OIFE Topical Meeting “Phases of Adult Life with OI”.  The meeting, which was planned to take place in Copenhagen in June 2026, will therefore not be held this year.

We had been very much looking forward to the meeting and to welcoming participants in Copenhagen. However, the decision has been made due to significant financial uncertainty for OIFE. Several of the grant providers and sponsors we had expected to support the meeting, may no longer be able to do so. This situation is linked to the recent negative news from the Cosmic and Orbit trials announced on December 29.

Following a thorough review of our income, expenses, and reserves, the OIFE Board concluded that we do not currently have sufficient funding secured to proceed with the meeting as planned.

The conference budget exceeds €150,000, and without confirmed grants and sponsorships, it would not be financially responsible to move forward. While we were able to cancel the hotel booking without any additional costs and had no significant expenses incurred so far, a decision had to be made at this stage to avoid future financial commitments.

We also considered increasing the participant fee, but even a substantial increase would not cover the costs in the absence of external funding. Moreover, raising the fee significantly would risk excluding many potential participants.

At the same time, we have already begun actively exploring alternative funding opportunities, including EU grants, support from foundations and companies, donations, and other possible sources.

While we remain hopeful that sufficient funding can be secured, we concluded that it was unlikely that we would have clarity on this before April or May at the earliest. As registration was planned to open at the end of January, the financial risk of proceeding was simply too great. There were also no abstracts submitted to the conference yet.

We would like to stress that the OIFE Topical Meeting “Phases of Adult Life with OI” is postponed – not cancelled – and will take place once adequate funding has been secured.
