Welcome new OIFE Volunteer: Natalia
NATALIA VERDUZCO.
Who are you and what is your relationship to OI?
My name is Natalia Verduzco, I am 29 years old, born in the beautiful country of Mexico and being very proudly both French and Mexican. I belong to the amazing community of OI-people myself, enjoying my path through this world one wheel at a time.
How and where do you live?
Currently living in Bordeaux, France. It can sometimes be a struggle to find accessible apartments for wheelchair users where you can be and feel independent: Challenging for sure but not impossible!
How did you get to know the OIFE and what was your incentive to volunteer for OIFE?
For many circumstantial reasons I was a bit disconnected and distanced from OI organizations but mostly from the whole community and it was something I felt was missing in my life. So, my incentive to volunteer was simply a will to be more involved and help as much as I can.
What will be your task?
I am a communication volunteer for OIFE and very recently became a part of the Youth Coordinators group, a very exciting and enriching opportunity.
What do you do when you’re not doing OI-work?
I work on social media, creating campaigns for a variety of brands but I also like to combine my love for communication with my passion to travel, which I try to do as often as I can.
In your opinion – what is the most important task for national OI organizations?
I think that it is really important to build a good and close relationship with the OI community of any organization, to bring information and updates about clinical research, events or any kind of useful information about OI. But in my opinion one of the most important tasks is to attract more members, volunteers and people interested in bringing their expertise, skill, and knowledge to build stronger organizations.
Do you have any other messages for the readers of OIFE magazine?
If you have the time, opportunity, and motivation, reach out to your OI organization of choice and get involved as much as you can! It is 100% worth it, and you’ll meet amazing people on the way.
