Calling OI-professionals in Nordic countries
Get in Touch! Jannie D. Hald, MD, PhD from Aarhus University Hospital in Denmark is searching for more OI-professionals in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden for the Nordic OI-Collaboration.
Synergy: Many similarities due to physically close location
The Nordic countries are physically located close together and share many similarities including a long tradition for cooperation. Fortunately, in OI cooperation has long been a key word: international meetings, organizations like OIFE and OIF, and the national patient societies in different countries. There are so many advantages of knowing each other and working together.
In a rare condition like OI, there will never be many health care specialists around, especially when it comes to health care around adults with OI. There is a need for specialists within the field working together.
Recently started: Combined research and clinical initiatives
Combined research and clinical initiatives have recently started between OI specialists in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland where twelve health care professionals from the five different countries have started to meet up online on a regular basis. We have several hopes for starting this cooperation. One important element is getting to know each other, to enhance cooperation for the benefit of the OI community. We discuss areas with need for further research, ways for follow up, treatment regimes and which data will be needed to gain a better understanding of OI in adults. There are so many benefits of specialists working together, and we are happy to hear from other specialists with an interest in adults with OI who may be interested in being a part of this or similar initiatives.
